Jeannette Ehlers I Crossing Waters: Ripples of Tomorrow
May 29 –
July 14 2024
Opening the 28 of May @ 7pm - Free Entrance
Jeannette Ehlers, an artist of Danish and Trinidadian origin, occupies the space of Le Bicolore to explore the colonial history of the Caribbean and the mixed heritages that inspire her work. Through photography, video, performance, and installation, Ehlers often favors a collaborative approach to intertwine memory and corporeality. By mobilizing both humans and non-humans, she investigates the various representations of Blackness, interacting with the architectural spaces she occupies in situ. Her work, where the notion of time plays a central role, represents a quest for healing and pays tribute to the legacies of the African diaspora, thus offering a reflection on selfhood and resilience.
